Today's guest, Tanya Brown, first dabbled in real estate as a landlord, but made the rookie mistake of renting her property to her family members. It wasn't until she came across note investing that she found her niche -- and that niche is being the bank, as opposed to being the buyer or seller.  She found it was more rewarding to keep the note rather than hope to get the property back. Whereas wholesalers and fix-and-flip investors specialize in getting people out of their homes, as a note investor Brown gets to keep people in their homes.

Tanya Brown

Tanya Brown is a mortgage note investor and president of The Pier Harbor Groups, a private equity firm that specializes in the acquisition and disposition of distressed mortgage notes. Tanya has been investing in real estate for nearly 12 years, managing rentals, doing a couple of flips and trying to wholesale. It wasn't until she came across note investing that she found her niche -- and that niche is being the bank. Tanya has moved millions of dollars in distressed assets and within two years of starting note investing, she built a $1.2M personal portfolio. She now helps other investors understand the benefits of passive investing by diversifying their portfolios with mortgage notes and offering training courses to educate and mentor individuals on how to invest in notes. She is also a partner of Four One Capital Partners and host of the DMV Note Network Meetup. In her fun time, Tanya enjoys gardening, beekeeping, cycling and relaxing with a cup of coffee.
